You’ve almost certainly seen an acrostic poem but may not know it had such a grand title. An acrostic poem is simply one where the first letter or each line, read downwards, spells out another word or name.
Here is an example, where the first letters of each line spell out ACROSTIC. They are particularly nice for romantic poetry, where you can spell out a name or phrase like “I Love You”. (Tip: try to avoid spelling out a word with an X in it! 😁)
Acrostic poems are pretty cool
Cleverly hiding a secret word
Revealed by first letters
Only seen but not heard
Spelling it out for you
Together they make
Ingenious headlines
Clearly not fake!
